What’s Included in the GMC Trailering Package?

The standard Trailering Package is available on a wide range of GMC trucks and SUVs, including the GMC Sierra 1500 and GMC Yukon. It’s designed for drivers with moderate towing needs and includes:

  • A trailer hitch platform
  • 7-pin and 4-pin wiring connectors
  • Hitch Guidance with Hitch View (on select models)
  • A locking rear differential (on many trucks)
  • Integrated trailer brake controller (available on certain trims)

This package is ideal for everyday hauling tasks like small boats, campers, or utility trailers.

What Does the Max Trailering Package Add?

The Max Trailering Package provides enhanced equipment and stronger performance for those with heavier towing requirements. This package builds on the standard Trailering Package and typically includes:

  • Enhanced cooling systems for better performance under load
  • Higher-capacity rear axle ratios
  • Upgraded suspension components for increased control
  • A larger or upgraded rear axle
  • Towing capacity of up to 13,300 lbs. (when properly equipped, such as with the GMC Sierra 1500 6.2-liter V8 engine)
  • Integrated trailer brake controller (standard with this package)

The Max Trailering Package is perfect for drivers who regularly tow heavy equipment, RVs, or large trailers. It’s available on select trims of the GMC Sierra 1500 and GMC Sierra HD models.
